Product Description: Railmotor Models HO Scale JQF Quarry Hopper Kit
The Railmotor Models HO Scale JQF Quarry Hopper Kit enables modelers to construct detailed representations of Victorian Railways' specialized quarry hopper wagons. These wagons were essential for transporting quarry materials, supporting the region's industrial activities.
Key Features:
-
Authentic Design: This kit accurately replicates the Victorian Railways JQF class quarry hoppers, capturing the distinctive features of the original wagons, including their open-top design and basic discharge system, tailored for transporting quarry materials.
-
High-Quality Components: Crafted from precision-molded plastic, the kit ensures ease of assembly and a high level of detail, reflecting the wagons' operational history from their introduction in 1974 to their recoding in 1979.
-
Customizable: As an unassembled kit, it offers flexibility for customization, allowing modelers to paint and detail the hopper to their preference, reflecting the various liveries these wagons wore during their service.
Historical Context:
Introduced in 1974, the JQF class wagons were specifically designed for quarry traffic, facilitating the transport of materials between quarries and distribution points. Initially, ten wagons were built, numbered 401 to 410. A second batch added numbers 411 to 420, and five briquette wagons were modified, resulting in wagons numbered 421 to 425. In 1994, the class expanded to 50 wagons, with conversions from the VHCX, VHDX, and VHRX classes, and renumbering to 201 to 225. The ex-VHRX wagons took on numbers 211 to 223, adding 210 to their previous number, while the three ex-VHDX wagons kept their original numbers of 201, 202, and 208. The ex-VHCX wagons filled numbers 203 to 207, 209, 210, 224, and 225, despite some number duplications with the VHJX group's wagons.
