Historical Background
Originally introduced by Victorian Railways in 1974 as JQF quarry hopper wagons, these vehicles were used to transport quarry products between Kilmore East and Melbourne.
Over the years, the fleet underwent modifications and reclassifications, eventually operating as VHQF wagons under Freight Australia and Pacific National.
The quarry service, commonly known as The Apex, became a familiar sight on Victorian railway lines.
